Protein Post-Transcriptional Regulation

Above are two proteins Bcl-xL (left) and Bcl-xS (right). They arise from the same gene through alternative splicing. Bcl-xL promotes life (anti-apoptotic) and Bcl-xS death (pro-apoptotic). Our lab is interested in finding out how alternative splicing and other post-transcriptional regulation mechanisms determine cell and organismal fates.
